From London to Munich, MINI and Paul Smith have teamed up once again to create something truly special. Following the MINI STRIP in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith in 2022, the legendary designer now brings his world-famous “Classic with a twist” philosophy to the new MINI family. Available for all MINI Cooper 3 Door, 5 Door and Convertible models (except the John Cooper Works lineup) this edition celebrates style, personality and pure MINI attitude. The MINI Paul Smith Edition made its world debut on October 29 at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition captures the shared love of creativity and individuality that defines both brands. “MINI and Paul Smith embody a shared mindset of positivity, embracing the motto of this edition: ‘Every day is a new beginning.’ Our collaboration celebrates a mutual love for design and meticulous attention to detail. Unexpected elements, such as the ‘hello’ projection on the ground and Paul Smith’s handwritten inscription bring a smile to your face right upon entering the car,” says Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.

A Modern British Palette
This special edition comes in three sophisticated exterior paint finishes, including two colours exclusive to the edition. Statement Grey reimagines the classic Mini Austin Seven hue from 1959 with a subtle blue tint that feels both timeless and modern. Inspired White pays homage to the beloved Classic Mini Beige, while Midnight Black Metallic offers a sleek, elegant option drawn from the current MINI family.

Each model also features carefully placed Nottingham Green accents, a nod to Sir Paul’s hometown seen on the side mirrors, octagonal grille, wheel hub covers with Paul Smith lettering and one of two available roof designs.

The first roof option features Paul Smith’s signature “Signature Stripe” in Nottingham Green at the rear of the driver’s side, while the alternative roof features Jet Black stripes of varying thickness and finishes. The Convertible version comes with a classic black soft top that ties the look together perfectly.

Completing the exterior, 18-inch Night Flash Spoke black alloy wheels with a Dark Steel tint exude understated confidence. Even the MINI logos take on a unique Black Blue tone, complemented by Paul Smith’s signature on the rear handle strip, a subtle reminder of the creative mind behind the design.

Elegant British Character Inside and Out
Step inside and the attention to detail continues. The interior celebrates British craftsmanship with a modern, minimalist touch. The dashboard and door panels feature knitted black surfaces, inspired by Paul Smith’s iconic tone-on-tone stripe patterns. Nightshade Blue sports seats made of Vescin material include knitted textile on the shoulders and headrests for a refined yet relaxed feel.

Drawing from the famous Signature Stripe, bright decorative stitching on the steering wheel adds a pop of colour that’s unmistakably Paul Smith. In Personal Mode, the round central display transforms with one of three exclusive Paul Smith backgrounds.

True to MINI’s playful nature, small surprises greet you everywhere. Open the door and you’re welcomed with a handwritten “Hello” projection on the ground and the uplifting phrase “Every day is a new beginning” on the door sill. A hand-drawn “rabbit” graphic by Paul Smith decorates the floor mat, completing the charming British touch.

A Legacy of Creativity
This collaboration continues a creative partnership that began in 1998, when Paul Smith designed a limited-edition classic Mini in a bespoke blue shade with matching anthracite alloy wheels. A year later, to celebrate the Mini’s 40th anniversary, he created a one-off model featuring 86 stripes in 26 vibrant colours, an instant design icon.

In 2021, the MINI STRIP showcased minimalist design and sustainable materials, staying true to Smith’s “classic with a twist” philosophy. The following year, the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith brought a classic Mini into the electric era, blending tradition with modern innovation.

The creative connection doesn’t end with cars. Paul Smith has often drawn inspiration from MINI in his fashion collections, and to celebrate the latest collaboration, he’ll release a capsule collection of bags inspired by details from the MINI Paul Smith Edition.
